Magpie 40

Gods.

Legs of a skater
face of a rat
Crown of a king
and tail of a cat.

So was the god
of one ancient race
Now an adornment;
a stylish necklace.

  4. Like Brigid and Suz (maybe like all women?) I knew a guy like that. Very well done. I like it.
    I also like the cartoon in the post below it. Cracked me up.

  5. I am reading John Irving's "A Son Of The Circus" ... set primarily in India ...many references to the Hindu Monkey God. Beautifully written ~ as always Mr. Ray.

    nice tangent to Willow's piece.

  12. From a god to an accessory...well, at least he's still immortal. Like your Potluck entry, this is also a very clever piece of work. It made me join Magpie, too! :)

  17. Oh, this is too perfect! :) When I saw this prompt my mind went totally blank so thought I'd cheat and click some posts at random to get some inspiration. Well, after this there is no way I'm going to write a Magpie this week. Nothing I could write would be half as good as this. Teach me to cheat!

  22. In this case, ironically, "The Reason You Come" may have it right -- 'gods.' (Small 'g'.)

    Mentioned a "blogging break" in comments over at

    Oh, taking a blogging break here while working on my credentials as an "established scholar" -- to qualify for a Vatican library card.
