Freaky Magpie.

.

In big tops on Saturday night,
The clown is the children’s delight.
With faults anatomical,
 Even more comical.
(Note: his right hand isn’t ‘right’!)

PS: Is Marc making a statement on circuses and freaks here, or did he simply make a boo-boo?
If you are still wondering, try to adopt his pose and note the direction of your thumbs.

  1. It's the curve of the fingers of the right hand that is wrong - if they were concave, not convex it'd look OK! I've tried it, palm facing outward - no bother! LOL

    1. Ah, but it is clearly the back of his right hand, same as his left.

  2. How many of us are going to attempt 'striking the pose' ... at the prompt of the Ultimate Clown?

  5. I'm sure it was done for a reason - reminds me of those cloth and ceramic dolls (where the head and the hands are ceramic and can be turned around).

  6. An artist is a sensitive guy. He's the first person to make sure the hand is drawn correctly. Looking at it again, I'm in agreement with your observation, Stafford! It sure looks awkward. There must be some reasons it's drawn that way.

  8. Oh that is good! Amazing it never dawned on me either, but just the simple test of putting your hands on your face, (palm side on your face) proves without a doubt, our thumb would be by our ear and not our lip! I liked you cute little poem as well!

  11. I tried to turn the hand the other way but looking closely, there is no way that's what is happening. So the clown has two left hands... Wow. This must have been seen before us.

    1. Some disagree, and it is possible to hold the hand with palm outward, thumb near the nose, but it is awkward and not the natural way one would use the hand as a 'megaphone' or to hide the mouth as one whispers a secret. I just think Marc, in his wonderfully expressive slap-dash style simply made a mistake.

  12. heehee

Noticed the hand was odd, but didn't realize it was another right hand.

    Creative take on the prompt.

  16. Well observed Stafford - much (hand) experimentation leads to only one conlusion - you are right!
