Nice, and thank you for the well wishes! I like the phrase innocent of terror. Great Magpie.
I love the way this piece corelates between what once brought death, and our celebration of life and our freedoms now. Truly great writing!! :-)
When my boys were small, those toy machine gun rat-a-tat-tats made me cringe. They just laughed. So beautifully written.
Always love reading your magpies! Thanks, you have an awesome 4th too!
Lovely magpie, I spend my whole day listening to toy machine guns, 'innocent of terror', lovely phrase.
This is great Stafford.
Nice and fresh!!! loveNlightGabi
I sensed a little 9/11 in there...? "no longer innocent of terror and despite loss of trust"...That even though terrorism hit home for our generations, we are blessed to still have our freedoms that allow our youth to continue to grow up with "laughter and joy." We persevered as one nation...strong and resilient! Something worth celebrating! Great Magpie!
you lit a ong fuse of remembrance with so few words..great magpie!
So few words says volumes. Nice mag!
Well done, we always need a reminder of lifes opposites....bkm
This magpie makes me sad and joyous at the same time.Well - definitely a celebration of life, surely!
yes explosions dont have quite the same flavor as they did when I was a kid....Happy 4th!
A Yin and Yang of thought about fireworks. I really enjoyed this! Rick
Nice magpie. Do have a happy 4th yourself.
esp if you drop them in a metal can...nice word play today. hope you have a great celebration...
Well put. Enjoy your day, as well, you brazen Imperials!Oh, wait... that was last century.;)Appreciate your thoughtful comment on my earlier post.
Two sides of every coin - wonderful piece!
It was a quiet 4th for me. Even around here, I heard few fireworks. Not sure why it was such a noiseless day. Perhaps everyone is on vacation.
Bright & short, just like fireworks! My kind of Magpie! Happy & safe 4th of July to you!

Short and sweet. Good Magpie.
Sadly, some little boys playing war with toy guns grow up to make war with real ones.
Stafford Ray,There'll always be war, and nations will rise and fall and the citizens will always celebrate. It's the way of things.Nice Magpie!rel
Dear Stafford Ray: Yes, we are no longer "innocent" as to the material which makes "Fireworks"! Great Haiku piece. Very observant and succinct with masterful wordsmithery. Excellent!
