There cannot be one person in the connected world who was not moved by images of that toddler dead on the beach. However, I wonder if we can imagine similar toddlers (and women and men) killed and maimed by air strikes in Syria. Nobody imagines that bombing Syria will end ISIL barbarism, so I ask would the money we spend on bombs, planes and all that goes with that, be better spent on supporting Syrian (and Iraqi) refugees in Lebanon and Jordan?
Of course, that would not help the hate and scare mongers get elected and re-elected.

And it would probably allow the barbarism of ISIS (or ISIL) to grow and expand.
ReplyDeleteYes, there are many opinions on that one.
ReplyDeleteit's horrific and incomprehensible.
ReplyDeleteYes, and further to Catalyst's comments; there is a view that ISIL needs us to bomb them so they can maintain the rage against the West and gather recruits. The 2003 Iraq war did that, so why not this one?
Deletepowerful Mr. Ray.
ReplyDeleteHow the mood of UK, Australia etc., has changed between when that poor boy was found and then later Paris - the bombing has increased and is just ridiculous - I agree with you Stafford (so sad) - Gabe (ps. almost impossible to post this comment - blogger playing up again)
ReplyDeleteThanks GB. If we think that's bad, let's hope we don't get Delirium Terrors (DT) in the White House next year, hate in his heart and finger on the nuclear trigger. My book CULL looks likelier to be the scenario as each day passes. Sorry about the difficulty.... Mmmm.
