Body Language Story.
For a moment I thought Ostinov had me, with the queen in check to his bishop, but I blocked him with the king’s rook. It looked like a desperation move, but it wasn’t. I had planned it to happen that way. Then it got really interesting. I didn’t really believe he would fall for it, but he took the rook with his bishop. I had the bishop covered with my queen’s rook. He didn’t know it, but the trap was closing. He was distracted by my knight, just one mover from taking his queen and he failed to notice that taking my rook put him in check. He was really sweating then and I knew I had him. He had nowhere to go and it was mate! Cecily, that was the most exciting game I have ever played against Ostinov and it was in record time too. I beat him in under ten hours! Oh! And we have a rematch in a month, I’d really like you to come and watch!
Thanks again Tess for another demanding prompt!

You have done a masterful job of reading his body language ... Cecily is giving his request thoughtful consideration ... cheers!
ReplyDeleteCecily is totally bored. She is tolerating his self indulgence, and the thought of sitting for ten hours watching a chess match must excite her no end!
DeleteI beg to differ my good man .. I see by the slight incline in her left shoulder, interest is peaking.
DeleteOn the contrary, I'd say it peaked with the pate de foie gras! But then, I enjoy watching cricket and lawn bowls, only slightly faster paced than chess.
Delete... come for a visit, experience major league baseball. Nine long (glorious) innings!
DeleteGood eye and smarty pants thinking to see the potential chess game! I've never played chess so could not appreciate the strategic moves, but still enjoyed your take on this image! Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteYou crafty devil! Great perception, Stafford. I do love the essence of The Luzhin Defence here. I hope Cecily says yes to the chess!
ReplyDeleteHelena! Do you aspire to be a chess master yourself? Maybe not, but a good bit of jargon thrown in here and there does suggest the question! I hope she finds a bloke who wants to watch what she likes doing!
Deleteyou have an interesting blog. thanks for sharing, I enjoyed reading your post
ReplyDeleteAnother ten hour marathon for cecily and ostinov of the south coast ! ...Staff , in all honesty , the very nature of a poat insustrial , overpopulated , warming, oil and resource depleted world involves austerity, austerity is appropriate for our times , and a lot of lefties have difficulty with this ...having said that , austerity simply must begin with the wealthy , our complex web of family trust, superannuation, luxury car and negative gearing rorts , in all the hoo- ha noone seems to bring this up , and its definitely not my go to be targeting pensioners and the poor and young people, veterans , students etc...
ReplyDeleteThis is appalling and TRAbbitt is a disgrace along with every deluded leftie who thinks we will still be playing "economic growth" and "happy motoring " in twentyyears ..i could send you some governmental and military energy forecast reports that would blow you away if you like ...
Cheers

Please send me links to said forecasts.. I am confident they will depress, but anyone who is not anxious doesn't know what is happening!
