How do you tell the gender of an egg?
Coming out of her shell.
Her shell started falling to bits
And we were all watching like twits,
As more pieces fell,
We were caught in her spell
And everyone looked at her dog.
“But that doesn’t rhyme!” you demand.
“It will in good time,” I say. “And,
For all you voyeurs,
Be patient, good sirs.
‘Cos, after she lands, she will stand!”
Answer: Male eggs are in more of a hurry to get laid.

Excellent - caught in the rhythm - I did not even notice the non-rhyme and had to look for it!
ReplyDeleteAnna :o]
Anna! It's back to limerick school for you!
DeleteLOL - the answer to the riddle is QUITE true :)
ReplyDeleteThis had better stop soon.
DeleteI will be eggs-hausted before we have it beaten!
Eggcellent....
ReplyDeleteI was in such a fog-
I didn't catch the dog....
In truth I thought you were quite clever!
Loved it!
Eggcellent! And unlike Anna, you did get the yolk! Yuk! yuk!
DeleteWhat a fine rhyme, as you write every time; and what a nice quip at the end ...
ReplyDeleteMy muse has a mind of its own, so sometimes I am embarrassed by what comes out. It would say anything for a laugh... and does!
DeleteYou have got the mail eggs down to a science Stafford....you never fail to make me laugh and smile. You are awesome!! :-)
ReplyDeleteI don't know what it would be like to receive an egg in the mail, but I do know that if you coddle a female egg, you eventually get the chick!
DeleteI know Carrie, you do deserve better...
Spellbinding waitress asks .. and how would you like your eggs this morning ... scrambled or fried? Sir? Sir?

DeleteAfter a glass of red or two i began to see all the intricate weavings , Staff ! Like a good patient voyeur caught in a spell!
ReplyDeleteNice! I love the lilting flow of the words.
ReplyDeleteThere's something delightful about a limerick that steps off the path now and then.
ReplyDeleteAnd this? "My muse has a mind of its own, so sometimes I am embarrassed by what comes out." How lucky are you! I'd love to have such a muse.
This is delightful! Thank you.
ReplyDeleteGreat limerick, Stafford!
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't rhyme ok, needn't be this time. It's good to be bending the limerick convention. If the last line does'nt rhyme it is a measure of thinking outside te box.And you can come up with gems when you choose to, as it is here! Great!
Hank
correction: 'outside the box'....
